Stay Focused: Master the Basics to Hit Your Real Estate Goals

fundamentals goal selling skills Jul 18, 2024

The extreme weather, the upcoming election, and the industry changes are all collaborating to create a great big distraction from what’s most important – that you hit your goal this year. Floyd said, “When the going gets tough, the weak get going, and the tough get back to the basics.” So please let this be a reminder of those basics that will result in you looking back over these next few months with satisfaction.

  1. Take out your calendar and count the days you will work toward your goal. Remember that we have a whole bunch of holidays and that you are committed to LFTs and time off. On those workdays, schedule the one controllable and trackable activity (prospecting) that always leads to production.
  2. Return to your SMART Week and Top 5 Things To Do Daily. Once a week, block out and color code your appointments, your prospecting time, your call-back time, and your time off. Once a day, study your TO DO list, and choose the 5 most important things that will get you closer to your goal. Write them down and work exclusively on them before devoting time to anything else. Top producers consistently work the highest priority activities.
  3. Develop reliable and dependable 5-90-10 partners. If you don’t have prospecting partners, put the word out on social media (Floyd Wickman Team Facebook page, or R Squared Coaching Facebook page). The surest way to develop reliable partners is to be one yourself. Make it easier to make yourself make those calls.
  4. Return to a consistent morning routine where you visualize your goal and receive guidance and direction. “I will always be guided to do and say the things that contribute to my success.” This affirmation has been a game-changer for thousands of people. The value of centering yourself before the workday starts is not based on pseudo-science or magic. There is a mountain of scientific data and spiritual prescription to validate the importance of adding a morning routine to your daily life.
  5. Create a weekly accountability group where you report your activity and results, measure progress toward your goal, and brainstorm solutions to each other’s problems. Being part of a weekly group keeps you motivated, keeps you on track, and gives you the opportunity to turn the page and start fresh every week.

The weather outside is going to be weather. If you don’t like it, wait 10 minutes.

The election is going to take place toward the end of the year, not tomorrow, and in the meantime, the politicians are going to try to grab your attention.

The industry changes will probably result in some new forms we have to fill out. Keep aware of the changes and apply your selling skills.

Keep doing the basics, and don’t let these distractions take you off track. You are a Master Salesperson, and you will hit your goal!
